Tip-off for kids
Many children and young adolescents in Germany and all over the world grow up under social and material conditions which offer only limited possibilities to take part in society.
The Dirk Nowitzki Foundation supports projects and initiatives which provide admission to society through sports and physical activity and thereby enabling them to have good start-off chances for a positive development.
About 300 schoolkids from various primary schools in Bad Nauheim play the “KLASSE KLASSE” game in class every day with their teachers. Using action and event cards, they experience playful aspects of exercise, nutrition and cooperation and actively implement them. They have a lot of fun doing it and at the same time the game enhances a community feeling in the classroom. The kids especially like the exercise and movement segments. “They have become more aware of being there for each other. They have more confidence to bring things up that are on their minds and to actively come forward with their interests.” That was the initial positive experience expressed by one teacher.
Yesterday the kids from the project “Football meets Culture” had the unique opportunity to visit Amir Shapourzadeh, their project’s sponsor, during his football training with coach Bernd Hollerbach. In spite of the freezing-cold weather and the low-hanging grey clouds, the kids had great fun picking out their star among the crowd of Kickers dressed in red. They were greeted in front of the field by Ines Schlagbauer, initiator and leader of the support organization “Kickers hilft, e.V.” (Kickers help)

Today is Child Rights Day!
On November 20, 1989, the Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted by the United Nations, guaranteeing all girls and boys protection and care as they grow up.
Every country is obligated to actively ensure that these rights are in fact implemented.
Commemorating the anniversary of the rights of children, Goodwill Ambassador Dirk Nowitzki has pledged his support to the German government’s campaign “Standing up for the Rights of Children” launched by the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.
