The Erich Kästner Children's Village in Oberschwarzach

Regardless of the fact that global super star Dirk Nowitzki with his 2,13m is too tall to race with the children of the Erich Kästner Children's Village in a handmade soapbox car – he enjoys every minute of the time he gets to spend with them in Oberschwarzach. The Erich Kästner Children's Village is a therapeutic and pedagogic children's home. 48 children and young adolescents from problematic backgrounds find a home in one of the five children's village families. The pedagogues realize the young people's problems with great care and show and answer to them. Dirk Nowitzki visits the village to spend time with the children whenever possible. He plays basketball with them, tells stories and sometimes he just embraces them. A friendly relationship developed over time.
